Key Definitions
Zone – A defined area, which can be a building, floor, group of rooms, or an individual room.
Zone Type – A filter option to view data by specific zone - building, floor, or default.
Primary Usage – The major space category as defined in the Facilities and Classification Manual (FICM). Examples include: 100 - Classroom Facilities and 200 - Laboratory Facilities.
Secondary Usage – The specific room use classification as defined by FICM. Examples include 110 - Classroom and 310 - Office.
Operating Hours – The designated hours when a space, building, or facility is open and available for use. These hours are determined by the institution and can be adjusted as needed.
Occupied Threshold – The minimum number of times a space must be used within a given period to be considered active or utilized. The default is 1 but can be adjusted.
Occupied Rate – The percentage of time a space is occupied compared to its total available time.
Fill Rate – The proportion of available seats or capacity in a space that is occupied when in use.
Concurrent Users – The number of people using a space at the same time, providing insight into peak demand periods.
Max Concurrent Users – The highest number of people occupying a space simultaneously within a given timeframe.
Min to Max Usage – Also known as a percentile, this filter allows the user to view occupancy levels in a space over time, from its lowest to highest usage.
People Minutes per Square Foot – A metric that measures the intensity of space usage by calculating the total number of minutes individuals spend in a space relative to its square footage. This helps assess how efficiently a space is being used over time, providing insights into density and utilization patterns.
