Meraki Location Scanning API

Overview:

This document will guide you through the setup of adding a Meraki Bluetooth or Meraki WiFi location scanning to the Degree Analytics Stream.

Note: If the school has multiple Meraki locations or networks, these steps will need to be repeated for each location or network.

 

Part 1: Getting Validator ID from Meraki

Get the validator ID and location of the Meraki device.

 

First, you will need to log in to your Meraki Web Portal, then navigate to General

 

Once in the General Menu, Scroll down to Location and scanning and copy the Validator ID along with the Building Name, Location, or Network this belongs too and

send this information to customer success.

 

Based on the example below, you would send this information to customer success.

Location: Degree Analytics Main

Part 2: Configuring Degree Analytics for Meraki

As a Degree Analytics School Admin, you can create an Meraki Integration

  1. Select the Schools Tab and then Click on Your School

  2. Select Integrations

  3. Scroll down and then click on Meraki

     

  4. A screen will pop up. Enter the validator token that you capture on the Meraki website

  1. You will then be provided a Secret and a URL that you will need to insert on the Meraki Site in Step 3

 

Part 3: Connecting Meraki to DA

  1. Go back to your Meraki Web Portal, then navigate to General

  2. Once in the General Menu, Scroll down to Location and scanning, then enable Analytics and Scanning API (circled in red below).

  3. Next, you will make to click Add a Post Url (circled in blue). Here you will add the URL and Secret that was given by Degree Analytics in the Post Url Field and the Secret field. After that, make sure the API version is V3 and Radio Type is WiFi or Bluetooth, whichever is being integrated (circled in blue)

At this set click the validate that is circled in green.

  1. Once you click validate, you should see a yellow banner pop that said the URL was successfully validated. If you run into an error here, reach out to the Degree Analytics Customer Sucess team.
