Meraki Dashboard API
Overview:
This document will guide you through the setup of enabling the Meraki location API
Purpose: Degree Analytics utilizes the Dashboard API to sync APs to the DA System. Additionally, it will use the API to understand device ownership of connected devices across the network.
To complete this process the user must have super admin privileges.
Part 1: Enable Meraki dashboard API
Log into your Meraki Web Portal
Navigate to Organization → Settings
In the Organization Menu, locate Dashboard API access and select the option to Enable access to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard API
A blue and white check mark will appear indicating that the correct option has been selected
Part 2: Create an organizational read-only admin
Note: Can limit to specific SSID’s if needed
Navigate to Organization > Configure > Administrators
Create a new Read-only admin using:
Name: Degree Analytics
Email: clientsuccess+<school_name>@degreeanalytics.com (be sure to include + sign, for example: clientsuccess+abcuniversity@degreeanalytics.com)
Organization Access: Read-only
Target: Optional. Can select specific networks, or by default, allow to entire organization
Notify your Degree Analytics partner success liaison that Meraki Dashboard API has been enabled. Degree Analytics will then create an API key with this new user, and begin syncing Meraki with the DA system
